The royal couple arrived in their Coronation robes, the King-Emperor wearing the Imperial Crown of India with eight arches, containing 6,100 diamonds, and covered with sapphires, emeralds and rubies, with a velvet and miniver cap all weighing 34 ounces (965 g).

As part of their tour of British India, the royal couple visited Calcutta on 30th December. On 7th January the Calcutta Pageant was mounted in their honour at the Maidan (nicknamed the Hyde Park of Calcutta). See RCIN 931140, 931141.
