Edward Sutton, 2nd Lord Dudley was born circa 1459.1 He was the son of Sir Edmund Sutton and Joyce Tiptoft.1 He married Cicely Willoughby, daughter of Sir William Willoughby.2 He died on 31 January 1508.2.
Edward Sutton, 4th Baron Dudley ( c. 1515 –1586), who married one of Queen Mary I's Gentlewomen of the Privy Chamber, Catherine Brydges, the daughter of John Brydges, 1st Baron Chandos, in 1556. After her death in 1566, he married Lady Jane Stanley, a daughter of Edward Stanley, 3rd Earl of Derby, in 1567.
His mother was the 4th Baron's second wife, Jane Stanley, daughter of Edward Stanley, 3rd Earl of Derby. He had a younger brother, John, and an elder half-sister, Agnes, by his father's first wife. Edward Sutton is believed to have been born in September 1567 as he was baptised on 17 September 1567.

Edward's son, Edward Sutton, 5th Baron Dudley (1567 - 1643) was notorious for taking a mistress called Elizabeth Tomlinson (described as 'a lewd and infamous woman, a base collier's daughter').
