Im Sommersemester 2006 wurden an der Viadrina die Feierlichkeiten zur 500-Jahr-Feier der Universität begangen, wobei Bezug auf die 1811 geschlossene Universität, die Alma Mater Viadrina, genommen wurde, und gleichzeitig der 15. Geburtstag der 1991 gegründeten Universität gefeiert.

Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten fue un filósofo y profesor alemán este este estudio en la universidad Halle y en 1740 fue nombrado filósofo del Alma Mater Viadrina donde permaneció por 22 años y cuenta con un fallecimiento temprano.
