29 de abr. de 2022 · During Bagrat's exile at the Byzantine court enforced by the rebellion of Liparit IV, Duke of Kldekari, in the 1050s, Gurandukht was "protector" (patroni) of Bagrat's young son George II, who was declared king in Bagrat's absence at Constantinople. It was she who demanded that the emperor Constantine IX Monomachos return Bagrat to Georgia. [1]

Gurandukht and Gurgen were already jointly ruling as regents for Bagrat in Kartli, and in 978, they deposed her brother Theodosius and installed the eighteen-year-old Bagrat as King of Abkhazia. It was this political triumph that led Gurandukht and her son to sponsor the construction of Bedia Cathedral in the heart of Abkhazian territory.

28 de abr. de 2022 · Bagrat was born in about 960 to Gurgen, a Bagrationi Dynasty prince from Kartli, and his wife, Gurandukht, who was a daughter of the late king George II of Aphkhazeti. Being still in his minority, Bagrat was adopted by his childless kinsman David III Kuropalates (990-1000), presiding prince of Tao/Tayk and the most powerful ruler in the Caucasus.
Gurandukht Anchabad of Abkhazia was born in 0948, in Abkhazia, Georgia as the daughter of King George II von Abchasien and Helen. She had at least 1 son with Magistros of Kartli Gurgen Georgios of Iberia II.
