William David Powell. William Horatio Powell (July 29, 1892 – March 5, 1984) was an American actor, known primarily for his film career. Under contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, he was paired with Myrna Loy in 14 films, including the Thin Man series based on the Nick and Nora Charles characters created by Dashiell Hammett.
Personal life. Wilson was married to actor William Powell. They had a son, William David Powell, [10] who became a television writer and producer. The Powells separated soon after their son's birth in 1925, [11] and finally divorced in 1930. [12] She died in 1942, aged 48 years, in New York City.
