1471511 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica, Volume 10 — Fairfax of Cameron, Ferdinando Fairfax, 2nd Baron FAIRFAX OF CAMERON, FERDINANDO FAIRFAX, 2nd Baron (1584–1648), English parliamentary general, was a son of Thomas Fairfax of Denton (1560–1640), who in 1627 was created Baron Fairfax of Cameron in the peerage of Scotland.

27 de abr. de 2022 · Born at Denton Hall, near Otley, Yorkshire, on the 17 January 1612, Fairfax was the eldest son of Ferdinando Fairfax, 2nd Lord Fairfax of Cameron. He studied at St John's College, Cambridge (1626–29), and then proceeded to the Netherlands to serve as a volunteer with the English army in the Low Countries under Sir Horace (Lord) Vere.

He is the current holder of the title of Lord Fairfax of Cameron, succeeding his father, Thomas Fairfax, 13th Lord Fairfax of Cameron, in 1964. Thomas Colepeper , 2nd Baron Colepeper , was an English peer and colonial administrator who served as the governor of the Isle of Wight from 1661 to 1667 and as the governor of Virginia from 1677 to 1683.
