Joanne McDuffie. American Vocalist, originally from Buffalo, New York. JoJo was the lead singer for the Mary Jane Girls on their biggest hit records ( All Night Long, In My House, Candy Man, Boys, etc.). Recorded and toured with Rick James on his "Street Songs" World Tour in 1981 as a member of The Mary Jane Band and appeared on Throwin' Down ...
For live performances, starting in 1979, James was backed by McDuffie along with Cheryl Bailey (who used the stage name Cheri Wells), Candice "Candi" Ghant and Kimberly "Maxi" Wuletich. Casually amongst the musicians, McDuffie, Wells, Ghant and Wuletich used the moniker Mary Jane Girls, a subgroup of James' backing band, the Stone City Band.
In 2014, Young began touring with Candice "Candi" Ghant and Farah Melanson as the new lineup of The Mary Jane Girls. In 2019, Young partnered with entertainment manager, Lawrence "youngBiz" Dixon, to revamp her and The Mary Jane Girls' career.
