She has worked at Durham University for 25 years both in Departments, Operations and Colleges. She can offer appointments and drop in for students who have concerns about anything in College life. At the heart of College life are sports for every skill level, societies ranging from the serious to pure fun, a focus on the performing arts, including our own theatre company and a range of brilliant events year-round, from balls and gowned formal dinners to relaxed Sunday brunches.
Bishop Van Mildert and the Dean and Chapter of Durham Cathedral founded the University of Durham in 1832. After Van Mildert's death in 1836, the Castle was given to the University, becoming University College in 1837. Early generations of students lived in the Castle Keep, which was reconstructed in 1840 by Anthony Salvin.
