The text purports to be a writ of Edward the Confessor (1003x5–1066) granting a slew of rights to Christ Church Cathedral, Canterbury.

Having studied at the University of Göttingen , he served in the Hanoverian army and with the British army in the Low Countries , being severely wounded in 1793.
