  1. Our History. The King’s School has a proud history which forms the bedrock of the current modern, dynamic school. The School was founded in 1541 by King Henry VIII following the dissolution of St Werburgh’s Abbey, which became Chester Cathedral. The School was housed in the former Monastic Refectory for most of the next 400 years until 1869.

  2. Fees. It is our policy to keep fees to a minimum whilst maintaining the School’s standards and facilities. They are normally reviewed annually in the Summer Term, with any change coming into effect from September. The fees from September 2024 are: Infants. Tuition per term: £3,731 Lunches per term (compulsory): £297. Juniors.

  4. THE KING’S SCHOOL, CHESTER Fri 29 September Senior School will be closed in preparation for the Open Morning. Senior School pupils will be expected in school on Saturday morning in lieu of Friday so please ensure their availability. Fri 13 October Junior School & Willow Lodge will be closed in preparation for the Open Morning.
