10 de may. de 2024 · Walter FitzAlan (c. 1090 – 1177) was a twelfth-century Anglo-Norman baron who became a Scottish magnate and Steward of Scotland. He was a younger son of Alan fitz Flaad and Avelina de Hesdin. In about 1136, Walter entered into the service of David I, King of Scotland.

The crown had come to his family through a woman, and would be lost from his family through a woman.

The royal Stewarts had an unlucky history, dogged by sudden death; and seven succeeded to the throne as minors.

7 de may. de 2024 · Walter fitz Alan (died June 1177), was the 1st hereditary High Steward of Scotland (c1150-1177), and described as "a Norman by culture and by blood a Breton". [1] He was the third son of a Breton knight, Alan fitzFlaad, feudal lord of Oswestry, by his spouse Aveline, daughter of Ernoulf de Hesdin.

He was the son of Walter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland and of Marjorie Bruce, daughter of Robert the Bruce and of his first wife Isabella of Mar.
