The Mugwumps. The Mugwumps waren eine US-amerikanische Band, die 1964 von Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, Zal Yanovsky und James „Jim“ Hendricks im New Yorker Greenwich Village gegründet wurde. Auch John Sebastian spielte zeitweise bei der Gruppe mit. [1]
The Mugwumps mostly played covers with some of their own material. The origin of the band’s name is unclear. One source says that it was taken from the William S. Burroughs novel The Naked Lunch, while the liner notes for the 2007 re-release of the album report that Jim Hendricks claimed that the name came from music producer Erik Jacobsen.
