Founded in 1940, the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, came after the merging of several music schools in the country, such as the National Conservatory of Music. The university currently hosts over 2,000 students and offers programs in Music Education, Voice and Opera, and Orchestra and Traditional Instruments.
The conservatory Music Library housing over 500,000 volumes is the largest one of the kind in China. The Conservatory owns over 500 pianos and a large number of other musical I instruments; its educational facilities include an electronic music studio with advanced recording and video equipments, and a violin workshop.
