Earle Brown, né le 26 décembre 1926 à Lunenburg ( Massachusetts) et mort le 3 juillet 2002 à Rye ( État de New York ), est un compositeur américain de musique contemporaine, improvisée et avant-gardiste . Son œuvre est caractérisée par ce qu’il a appelé la « forme ouverte » ( open form ).

'Earle Brown – A Life in Music – Vol. 4' is the most recent CD set in this unique series presented by WERGO. CD 1 contains three stylistically quite different string quartets by Pierre Boulez, Giacinto Scelsi and Earle Brown himself, performed by the ensembles Quatuor Parrenin, Hamann Quartet, Quartetto di Nuova Musica, and the New York String Quartet.
