David Wark Griffith, plus connu sous le nom D. W. Griffith, est un réalisateur américain, né le 22 janvier 1875 au Manoir de La Grange à Crestwood et mort le 23 juillet 1948 à Hollywood . Réalisateur prolifique, il a tourné environ quatre cents films courts en cinq ans, de 1908 à 1913 , et réalisé, dès 1914 , les premières super-productions américaines.
