Sergeant Matlovich vs. the U.S. Air Force. 1978. I went into this with little expectations but this really really pleasantly surprised me. First of all, Dourif kills his performance. He always does, but I really have a soft spot for Brad playing grounded dramatic roles like this and it was an absolute pleasure to watch.
Brad Dourif plays Sgt. Leonard Matlovich, who, in 1975, came out of the closet while serving as a race relations instructor in the U.S. Air Force, and then went to court in an ultimately failed fight to stay in service. He was clearly ahead of his time, as was this TV movie that followed only three years later.
