Frederick Hervey, 2nd Marquess of Bristol (15 July 1800 – 30 October 1864), the great-great-great-grandfather of the present Marquess Lady Georgiana Elizabeth Charlotte Hervey (8 September 1801 – 16 January 1869) married Rev. Hon. John Grey, son of Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey , and had three children.

  4. Frederick William Hervey, 5th earl and 1st marquess of Bristol (1769–1859), was born on the 2nd of October 1769. He married Elizabeth Albana (d. 1844), daughter of Clotworthy, 1st Baron Templetown, by whom he had six sons and three daughters. In 1826 he was created marquess of Bristol and Earl Jermyn, and died on the 15th of February 1859.

Lord Herbert Hervey 1870-1960 (father of Victor, 6th Marquess of Bristol, and grandfather of the present Marquess of Bristol) became 5th Marquess of Bristol in later life after the death of his older brother Frederick, 4th Marquess of Bristol in 1951. The 5th Marquess spent a large part of his working life abroad, in particular in South America.

  6. Hervey was the son of Lord Augustus Henry Charles Hervey (1837–1875), the younger brother of the 3rd Marquess of Bristol. He was born in Dresden, Germany, where his father was stationed. He was educated at Tonbridge School and Eastman's Royal Naval Academy before joining HMS Britannia as a cadet in January 1877.
