Jean Lannes voit le jour le 10 avril 1769 à Lectoure Maison natale du maréchal Lannes à Lectoure, paisible bourgade de Lomagne sise entre Agen et Auch, sur le Gers, où son père est cultivateur et marchand de biens. Ouvrier teinturier lorsqu'éclate la Révolution, il s'engage en 1792 dans le 2ème bataillon de volontaires du Gers.
