Charles Leclerc (born March 17, 1772, Pontoise, France—died Nov. 2, 1802, Cap-Français, Saint-Domingue) was a French general, brother-in-law of Napoleon, who attempted to suppress the Haitian revolt led by the former slave Toussaint Louverture. Leclerc joined the army in 1792 and distinguished himself at the siege of Toulon.
