Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. (July 5, 1902 – February 27, 1985) was an American politician. He was a member of the Republican Party. He served as an ambassador of the United States to West Germany, South Vietnam, and to the United Nations. In 1960, he was Richard Nixon 's running mate in the 1960 presidential election. They lost to John F. Kennedy.
