12 de dic. de 2017 · Though he was an important figure in Danish history, German physician Johann Friedrich Struensee is not particularly well known in Germany. The period he lived in, the late 18th century, is known as the Age of Enlightenment. New schools of thought were introduced and revolutionary ideas made their way to courts, Kings , and Queens.

Hans 16 måneder lange overtagelse af styret i Danmark og kærlighedsforholdet til dronning Caroline Mathilde fik en brat og brutal afslutning, da han blev arresteret, dømt og henrettet i foråret 1772.
Johann Friedrich Struensee (5. srpna 1737, Halle n. Sálou – 28. dubna 1772 Kodaň ) byl německý lékař, ministr Dánského království . Jeho starší bratr byl Carl August Struensee (1735–1804), profesor matematiky a pruský ministr.
J.F. Struensee. Johann Friedrich Struensee var født i Tyskland. Han blev uddannet i Halle og fungerede derefter som læge i Altona. I 1768 blev Struensee læge for den mentalt syge Christian 7., og efter en rejse med kongen flyttede han til København. Kongens nye livlæge fik et fortroligt forhold til sin patient og blev en del af hoffet.

J.F. Struensee var søn af en pietistisk teologiprofessor i Halle, hvor han i 1757 tog den medicinske doktorgrad.
