Following the death of the 5th Earl of Harewood in October 1929, Princess Mary and her husband moved into Harewood House, the Lascelles’ Yorkshire seat, which was built by Edwin Lascelles (1712-1795). The house is famed for the splendid furniture supplied by Thomas Chippendale, who was born in nearby Otley.
