14 de feb. de 2023 · Biography. Ludwig (Louis) II was Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine from 1830 to 1848. He was born in 1777 in Darmstadt, in what was then the Holy Roman Empire. He married his cousin Princess Wilhelmine of Baden in 1804 in Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany. The couple separated after the birth of their second surviving child in 1809.
