Jacob Golius was an Orientalist and mathematician at the University of Leiden. He published and translated (in) Arabic. His best-known work is an Arabic-to-Latin dictionary, Lexicon Arabico-Latinum (1653), which he sourced for the most part from the Sihah and Qamous dictionary.

6 de jul. de 2023 · Jacobus Golius was the first Leiden scholar to travel to Morocco (1622-1624) and the Middle East (1625-1629), with the aim to collect relevant literature. He later used these works and the knowledge he gained during his travels to write his famous Lexicon Arabico-Latinum , (Leiden, 1653), which would be used as a standard scholarly dictionary in Europe for the next three centuries.

Jacobus Golius. Jacob Golius, born Jacob van Gool (1596 – September 28, 1667), was an Orientalist and mathematician based at the University of Leiden in Netherlands.
