Albert was born in Vienna, the son of the Inner Austrian duke Ernest the Iron from his second marriage with the Piast princess Cymburgis of Masovia. Still minors upon the death of their father in 1424, he and his brother remained under the tutelage of their uncle Duke Frederick IV of the Empty Pockets , [2] who ruled over Further Austria and the County of Tyrol .
On 25 January 1412, Ernest married his second wife, the Piast princess Cymburgis of Masovia. They had: Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor (21 September 1415 – 19 August 1493) Margaret of Austria (1416/17 – 12 February 1486), married on 3 June 1431 to Frederick II, Elector of Saxony

Cimburgis ( Cymburgis, Cimburga, „Zimburg“ oder Cymbarka von Masowien; * 1394 oder 1397 in Warschau, Herzogtum Masowien; † 28. September 1429 in Türnitz, Niederösterreich) war eine polnische Prinzessin aus der Dynastie der Piasten und durch Heirat eine (Erz-)Herzogin von Österreich.
