Mathilde Ludovika, Duchess in Bavaria (30 September 1843 – 18 June 1925) was the fourth daughter of Maximilian, Duke in Bavaria and Princess Ludovika of Bavaria. Her mother was the youngest surviving daughter of King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria by his second wife Margravine Karoline of Baden .

Maximilian Joseph var eneste sønn av hertug Pius August in Bayern (1786–1837) og hans hustru, prinsesse Amélie Louise von Arenberg (1789-1823). Den 9. september 1828 giftet Maximilian Joseph seg ved Tegernsee med prinsesse Ludovika av Bayern, sjette datter av kong Maximilian I Joseph av Bayern, hans fars niese. Faren hadde arrangert dette; mot både brud eller brudgoms ønske. De fikk ti barn.
