A Duke is never called a lord. 'Your grace' is used for a Duke. Since 2004 a list of peers has been kept by the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice. This list, called the Roll of Peerage had to be kept to prove who was a peer. The list of members of the House of Lords used to be the same until the hereditary peers were excluded.
The Peerage of Ireland consists of those titles of nobility created by the English monarchs in their capacity as Lord or King of Ireland, or later by monarchs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. [note 1] It is one of the five divisions of Peerages in the United Kingdom. The creation of such titles came to an end in the 19th century.
