28 de oct. de 2021 · He hired three consulting engineers: Charles Alton Ellis, Leon Moissieff, and Charles Derleth, and it is generally agreed that Ellis and Moissieff were primarily responsible for all the calculations needed to work out the stresses on the span, and for the design of the suspension system, with Ellis getting the lion's share of the accolades.
Charles Alton Ellis (1876 – 1949) was a professor, structural engineer and mathematician who was chiefly responsible for the structural design of the Golden Gate Bridge. Because of a dispute with Joseph Strauss, he was not recognized for his work when the bridge opened in 1937. His contributions were ultimately recognized at the bridge in a plaque installed in 2012.
Morrow was a lifelong resident of the Bay Area. [1] Morrow graduated from the newly founded University of California, Berkeley architecture program in 1906. He then attended the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1908 until 1911. He moved back to Oakland and began practicing architecture in San Francisco and Oakland.
