In 1941 Duke of Lancaster as requisitioned as HM Hospital Ship No.56, with capacity for 408 patients and 60 medical staff, as well as 100 crew. In June 1944 she accompanied the troopships to the Normandy landings. 1 de ago. de 2016 · The TSS Duke of Lancaster arrived near Mostyn Docks in August 1979 and is currently beached and spend the past 30 years rusting away on the River Dee at north-east Wales. Despite the ship’s outward appearance, her interior was reportedly in good condition and there were still plans to return the now ghost ship to its former glory.
