The Grand Palace along with the large fountain cascade in front of it is the main attraction of Peterhof and architectural dominant of the whole Palace and Park complex. This elegant baroque palace is the centre of the Peterhof estate, boasting regal facades and stunningly ornate interiors. Open: Daily, except Mondays, 10:30 am to 7 pm. Last admission is at 5:45 pm. Thursday: 10:30 am to 9 pm. Last admission is at 8 pm. Admission: RUB 600.00.
The journey from Peterhof to Oranienbaum will take you around 15-20 minutes by car or train. Most trains that pass Peterhof go to Oranienbaum. In the central park of Oranienbaum you’ll find one of the oldest palaces in St. Petersburg – Menshikov Palace, that used to belong to Peter the Great’s favorite assistant.

Peterhof during the Second World War. Photo by unknown author, 1943. Peterhof was devastated during the three year German occupation. Many of its fountains were destroyed, the Grand Palace was partially blown up, and its interiors almost completely burnt out in the subsequent fire.
