Voronezh Oblast was formed in June 1934. Ivan Shabonov of the KPRF was elected Governor in 1996. In 2020 Voronezh Oblast’s gross regional product (GRP) amounted to 1,063,999m. roubles, equivalent to 459,630 roubles per head. The important industrial centres inthe Oblast are at Voronezh, Borisoglebsk and Rossosh.
