How to DJ with the Camelot Wheel. In key. In style. It’s so simple. Mixed In Key tells you at-a-glance which tracks and sounds will work together. You can stick to the exact same key, ie 5A to 5A, or move through the gears in a harmonically pleasing fashion. 8A can go to 7A, 9A or 8B smooth as a knife through butter.
To read a Camelot wheel, first, you need to identify the key of the song(s) you want to work with. On the wheel, you will see 24 different segments arranged in a specific pattern, each labeled with a Camelot value between 1-12 A or B. Find the key of your chosen song, and any compatible key signatures follow either in the adjacent numbers, or the other letter.
