You could pull a fucking Joseph Campbell's diagram for 80s "tiny monster" horror films I would think. But Gremlins had a fairly original plot with a creative creature transformation concept. That makes it win in my eyes.
The critters will have an tactical advantage, being far more intelligent in all matters that doesn't include machinery. The gremlins are going to need numbers are their side, 3v1 at the very least ...
I don’t know how they would implement it, but I would love to see a fourth wall break akin to the one in gremlins two, maybe have bleach stand over whoever would be the leader of the gremlins be it stripe mohawk or brain, and before he finishes them off, the video, starts the glitch and stutter before it crashes and we see the gremlin and maybe the critters fucking around with the video, we ...
Whether it was the Critters, Gremlins, or Ghoulies film series, horror moviegoers could count on some bloody, grotesque, and often comedic entertainment from the pint-sized villain. Yet, unlike the scary movies that came later, they were never pitted against each other.

I had an idea for a Gremlins VS Critters puzzle-platformer game a while back, but never got past drawing a couple of sprites. I initially wanted to add more gremlins into the piece, but was afraid it will make it even busier than it already is... however I might still do that. That, and a giant crite ball rolling over gremlins in the background: )
