Guru Ram Das took a great liking to the three letters written in verse by his son Arjan and requested his other sons write poetic letters like them. However, Arjan was thrilled to be reunited with his father and decided to write yet another and fourth letter in verse, which won over the heart of his father and made him decide to select his youngest son Arjan as his worthy successor.
