On Nov. 3, 1936, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was re-elected in a landslide over his Republican challenger, Kansas Governor Alfred M. “Alf” Landon. The president won over 60 percent of the popular vote and 523 of the 531 electoral votes, losing only Maine and Vermont.
In vanilla, the player can choose Alf Landon as President of the United States in the 1936 election scenario and can re-establish the gold standard through a focus. However, it just doesn't make sense that Alf Landon would cooperate with Macarthur, the America First party, Pelley and the Silver legion, and the Nazi Bund to re-establish the Confederate States and start another civil war.
