In 2019, SV Bevern became the champions of the Landesliga Weser-Ems. [2] This usually would have meant a promotion to the Lower Saxon Oberliga, the fifth-highest league in Germany. However, SV Bevern declined the promotion for economical reasons. [3] This allowed Kickers Emden to be promoted to the Oberliga despite coming in second. As of 2021, SV Bevern continues to play in the Landesliga.
