23 de abr. de 2024 · Sigismond Thalberg (born Jan. 8, 1812, Geneva, Switz.—died April 27, 1871, Posillipo, Italy) was the leading rival of Franz Liszt as a virtuoso pianist. Thalberg began performing at the age of 14 in Viennese salons. In 1830 he toured Germany and England, and in 1834 he assumed the post of court pianist in Vienna.
28 de oct. de 2023 · The Thalberg Award trophy itself is not a traditional Oscar statuette, but rather a stylized bronze bust of Thalberg. The current version—the third—was created by sculptor Gualberto Rocchi in 1957 and first presented to William Wyler, the 1966 Thalberg Award recipient.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences established the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, given for excellence in production.
