William Fitzalan, 11th Earl of Arundel, 8th Baron Maltravers KG (1476 – 23 January 1544) was an English peer, styled as Lord Maltravers from 1487 to 1524.
The earldom was created in 1138 or 1139 [2] for the French baron William d'Aubigny. Its origin was the earlier grant by Henry I to his second wife, Adeliza of Louvain, of the forfeited honour of Arundel, which included the castle and a large portion of Sussex.
Henry Fitzalan, 12th Earl of Arundel KG (23 April 1512 – 24 February 1580) was an English nobleman, who over his long life assumed a prominent place at the court of all the later Tudor sovereigns, probably the only person to do so.
The Fitzalan earls of Arundel descended from William fitz Alan (son of Alan fitz Flaad), lord of Oswestry and Clun on the Shropshire march at the start of the twelfth century. They acquired Arundel castle from an heiress of the last d'Aubigny earl of Arundel in 1244 and became themselves earls of Arundel in 1292.
The marriage between JOHN FITZ ALAN II (1223 - 1267) and Isabel, one of the co-heirs of Hugh d'Aubigny, earl of Arundel, brought the honour of Arundel and the title of earl to the Fitz Alan family in 1243.
Henry Fitzalan, 12th earl of Arundel (born c. 1512—died Feb. 25, 1580, London) was a prominent English lord during the reign of the Tudors, implicated in Roman Catholic conspiracies against Elizabeth I. Son of William Fitzalan (1483–1544), the 11th earl, he succeeded to the earldom in 1544.
