In the 1930s he developed extreme right-wing opinions and became a member of several anti-Semitic organizations including the Anglo-German Fellowship. In 1939 Archibald Ramsay founded a secret society called the Right Club in May 1939.
Hugh Lupus Grosvenor was the second and eldest surviving son of Richard Grosvenor, 2nd Marquess of Westminster and Lady Elizabeth Leveson-Gower, the younger daughter of George Leveson-Gower, the 2nd Marquess of Stafford and later the 1st Duke of Sutherland. He was educated at Eton College and, until 1847, at Balliol College, Oxford.
