1 de dic. de 2019 · After Queen Alexandra’s death in 1925, and the Amethyst Tiara and accompanying Necklace, and the Sapphire Necklace, were inherited by the aforementioned Princess Louise, Duchess of Fife, who left them in 1931, to her younger daughter, Princess Maud, then Lady Maud Carnegie and later Countess of Southesk, who wore the Tiara with the Amethysts for the Coronation of her cousin, King George VI ...
His grandson, the eleventh earl, married Princess Maud, granddaughter of King Edward VII. Princess Maud and her elder sister Princess Alexandra were in special remainder to the Dukedom of Fife . On Alexandra's death in 1959, the titles passed to her nephew James Carnegie, Lord Carnegie , the only son of the eleventh earl of Southesk and Princess Maud (who died in 1945), who became the third duke.
Jewels owned by the late Princess Maud, Countess of Southesk realized £10,989. The diamond and amethyst necklace which had been specially made for Queen Alexandra, £580 (above). Queen Alexandra's gift to Princess Maud on her wedding, a diamond, turquoise and pearl tiara, went for £380; and a diamond flexible bracelet, £520.
29 de nov. de 2023 · Charles and Maud were married for more than two decades. They welcomed their only child, a son named James, in September 1929. A decade later, in 1941, Charles’s father passed away and he and Maud became Earl and Countess of Southesk. Sadly, Maud passed away quite young, dying at the age of 52 in 1945 from acute bronchitis.
