The quest name is in reference to the book, Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne. The name Conrad Veidt is also a reference to the 1919 film based on the book. In the film the main character, Phileas Fogg, is played by German actor, Conrad Veidt.

Kelvin challenges Fogg to prove this or give up inventing and so Fogg agrees to undertake the journey. Joined by Passepartout, Fogg sets forth across Europe, Asia and the United States.
