  1. 9 de abr. de 2024 · William Bentinck, 2nd Duke of Portland KG (1 March 1709 – 1 May 1762), styled Viscount Woodstock from 1709 to 1716 and Marquess of Titchfield from 1716 to 1726, was a British peer and politician. Portland was the son of Henry Bentinck, 1st Duke of Portland and his wife Elizabeth Noel, daughter of Wriothesley Baptist Noel, 2nd Earl of Gainsborough .

  2. Portland was born William Henry, Lord Titchfield in April 1738 into an aristocratic family at Bulstrode Park in Buckinghamshire. He was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford. He was briefly MP for the seat of Weobley in 1761 but was elevated to the House of Lords upon the death of his father the following year.

  5. Anxious to reward his close friend and supporter, [Hans] William Bentinck, William created him Baron of Cirencester, Viscount Woodstock and Earl of Portland in February 1689. William was succeeded by his son, Henry in 1709, and within seven years Henry had been elevated to the titles Marquess of Titchfield and Duke of Portland.

  7. 6 de may. de 2011 · William Henry Cavendish-Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland was born on 14 April 1738. 1 He was the son of William Bentinck, 2nd Duke of Portland and Lady Margaret Cavendish Harley. 1 He married Lady Dorothy Cavendish, daughter of William Cavendish, 4th Duke of Devonshire and Charlotte Elizabeth Boyle, Baroness Clifford, on 8 November 1766. 2 He died on 30 October 1809 at age 71.
