John Wayne starred in this serial version with a very very loose basis on the idea of the original story. This is not very good and only for fans of the style of these early 30's serials, very hammy and quickly produced. Not bad enough to make a point to pan it but not worth seeking out either. // logged from 2012 viewing
4/10. Weakest of Wayne's Three Serials! bsmith5552 20 January 2005. "The Three Musketeers" was the third and final serial made by John Wayne for producer Nat Levine's Mascot Pictures. Oddly enough for Wayne, who made mostly westerns during this period, none of the three serials are westerns. In fact, in all three, he plays a pilot.
The Three Musketeers is a 1933 film serial produced by Mascot Pictures which updates Dumas' The Three Musketeers by setting the story in contemporary North Africa.
