The winning design was created by alumna Margaret Frueaff ’29 and featured a ship named The Venturer. Miss Hewitt lent her personal motto, By Faith and Courage, to complete the emblem. Venturer went on to become the name of Hewitt’s award-winning upper school literary magazine and the ship logo is used proudly by our alumnae community.
