On the 27th October, 1899, Captain FitzClarence led his squadron from Mafeking across the open, and made a night attack with the bayonet on one of the enemy’s trenches. A hand-to-hand fight took place in the trench, while a heavy fire was concentrated on it from the rear. The enemy was driven out with heavy loss.

Lord Augustus FitzClarence (1 March 1805 – 14 June 1854), was the youngest illegitimate son of William IV of the United Kingdom and his long-time mistress Dorothea Jordan. Like his siblings, he had little contact with his mother after his parents separated in 1811.

Fue creado Conde de Munster, 1er Vizconde FitzClarence y 1er Barón Tewkesbury en el condado de Gloucester, el 04 de junio de 1831. En 1833 se convirtió en consejero privado. Obtuvo el grado de Mayor General.
Isabel de Hannover (cuyo nombre completo fue Isabel Georgiana Adelaida; palacio de St. James, Londres, 10 de diciembre de 1820-Ibidem, 4 de marzo de 1821) fue una princesa británica, siendo la segunda hija del duque de Clarence (luego rey Guillermo IV del Reino Unido ), y de su esposa, la princesa Adelaida de Sajonia-Meiningen .
