22 de abr. de 2022 · Through this Search and Selection process, The Earthshot Prize stands ready to spotlight the incredible work of our Finalists and their solutions, and to scale and support their extraordinary impact. Our second cohort of Finalists will be announced in autumn with Winners awarded at our 2022 Ceremony hosted in the USA.
Led by Manja Kargbo, Freetown the Treetown is an ambitious, city-led, “pay-to- grow” scheme to plant, grow and digitally track trees, which aims to restore what has been lost and protect it for future generations. Through this initiative, city residents are paid to plant and monitor trees and mangroves, which are tracked via an online platform.
In that moment, Ankit had an idea that would soon become his business: Phool, the company that created Fleather. At first, Phool collected this floral waste and turned it into incense sticks. As they did, however, something extraordinary happened. A thick mat-like substance began to grow over the unused fibres lying on their factory floor.
Earthshot Prize funding has allowed the team to increase in size, which has helped it reach out to other networks, groups and funders. The network has now expanded to more than 150 rangers , with an ever-growing list of people expressing an interest in joining.
