Ben Webster występował w latach trzydziestych w kilku orkiestrach (Andy'ego Kirka, Fletchera Hendersona w 1934, Benny'ego Cartera, Williego Bryanta, Caba Callowaya i krótkotrwałym projekcie Teddy'ego Wilsona - Big Band). W 1940 Ben Webster został głównym solowym saksofonistą tenorowym w orkiestrze Duke'a Ellingtona.
Ben Webster actuó en el cine a lo largo de treinta años, entre 1913 y 1943. Él y Whitty emigraron a California, Estados Unidos, país en el que permanecieron hasta el momento de su muerte.
