  1. Æthelweard (died 854) was a 9th-century king of East Anglia, the long-lived Anglo-Saxon kingdom which today includes the English counties of Norfolk and Suffolk. Little is known of Æthelweard's reign and even his regnal dates are not known for certain. He was succeeded by Edmund, who was said to have been crowned on 25 December 854.

    Ethelweard or Æðelweard (904 – 924) was son of Edward the Elder. According to one version of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, Æðelweard (a bookish boy) was appointed king. Supposedly, he became a hermit at Bridgnorth, and was elected king by the witan after his father's death. He died in Oxford after being king for only sixteen days.
