28 de abr. de 2022 · Sir Robert Peel, 2nd Baronet, FRS was a British statesman of the Conservative Party who served twice as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (1834–35 and 1841–46) and twice as Home Secretary (1822–27 and 1828–30). He is regarded as the father of modern British policing and as one of the founders of the modern Conservative Party.

Robert Peel was born at Chamber Hall, Bury, Lancashire, and was the eldest son of Sir Robert Peel, 1st Baronet, an industrialist and parliamentarian, and Ellen Yates. After graduating from Christ Church, Oxford, with a double first in Classics and Mathematics in 1808, Peel became a law student at Lincoln’s Inn the following the year.
