Burroughs Jr reminds me quite a bit of Dan Fante, himself the son of a famous writer (John Fante). Both sons are wayward and both end up in New York and off their face.

On most days, I consider this my favorite book of all time. It's actually two short novels published together--the only complete works of William S. Burroughs Jr., son of the late great grandaddy of the Beat generation, who only lived 31 years, much of it in a great deal of pain.
